The Three Graces is a contemporary
version of the mythological daughters of Zeus: Euphrosyne,
Aglaea and Thalia who were said to represent beauty,
charm, and joy, respectively. The Graces presided
over banquets and gatherings primarily to entertain
and delight the guests of Gods. Many artist, notably
Botticelli and Canova, have always been attracted
to the subject matter of the Three Graces and have
offered their visual interpretations. The scene depicts
the three characters, resting on a small table wearing
modern clothes, surrounded by a variety of contemporary
objects and multi ethnical symbols.
